Downtown Hollywood Streets

Downtown Hollywood Streets

Recently I shared a short film on flying over California, showing ethereal views of my home state from the clouds. Then I shared some sparkling lights and neon signage from Downtown Disney one evening in Anaheim. Today I'm sharing some photos from the streets of downtown Hollywood.

Hollywood streets are deep. I found these words written in white on a dark, graffiti painted wall: "I know you untied me, but you're still deep inside me."There's no shortage of sparkling lights in Hollywood.

The voice of a city

No matter where I travel, near or far, I love to get the feel for a city and compare it to what I know. My city will always be San Francisco and therefore every city afterward is in the shadows.

I recall Chicago as huge with the cleanest streets, in wonder of snowflakes falling one evening, and getting stuck in revolving doors. Vancouver, BC streets were like another world to me. I found parts of myself I didn't know were lost. Seattle was brief but the views were amazing (and cold)!

I'm still trying to summarize my feelings for Southern California (Bay Area native here), maybe I'll find them somewhere along these photographs.

Love the vintage touch in Hollwood's street signage.

This has to be one of my favorite signs I spotted in Hollywood, it's even better in black and white.

Another similarity of San Francisco's Pier 39 and Hollywood is the Wax Museum.

The crowds. Like most tourist areas of cities, Hollywood Blvd. is full of people coming and going.

Similar to Pier 39 in San Francisco, there's plenty of entertainers performing on Hollywood Blvd. This one in particular had a parrot, I didn't see that one coming.

I'm in love with old theatre signage. They have so much character to them from the typography of the name, the colors of the bright lights, and the occasional marquee. On this evening El Capitan wished Mariam a happy birthday.
